About the Pottery

Thank you so much for your interest in my work. It truly is humbling and scary to put myself and my work out into the world.

Each piece is hand-thrown from stoneware clay, by me, Sylvi Roy, and gas reduction kiln-fired at Portland Pottery in Portland, Maine. All items are food-safe and dishwasher-safe, though I recommend hand-washing to lengthen their life.

Please remember that each item I make is entirely hand-made, which makes for loving flaws from the creative process. There is a bit of an unknown when it comes to how glazes will react to the elements in the large gas kiln at our community studio, which makes things unpredictable, which, as someone who loves a good surprise, truly makes me look forward to each week as the kiln is being unloaded. I try to capture photos and make note of any significant “quirks,” but please reach out if you have any questions about a specific piece.

I can assure you that each item is one-of-a-kind and has been created by me in all aspects outside of firings, which I leave up to the talented folks who make the magic happen at Portland Pottery.

I love each piece for its unique quirks, and I hope you will, too. It's extremely hard to let these little artworks go, but I’d love to see them in their new homes! Please keep me posted on where they end up (tag IG: @sylviroy.creative and/or @sylviroy).

        Cheers!
